Falls Township Finances in Excellent Shape
Fiscal year 2008 saw a .50 mill tax decrease for the residents of Falls Township. Once again,
the Township was able to hold the line on taxes while continuing to provide its full line of services to the
public and meet all of its budgetary goals. For every tax dollar residents pay in 2008, only four (4) cents
goes to Falls Township. Additionally, the Township levies none of the nuisance taxes used in neighboring
municipalities to supplement their operating expenses.
The Township's 2009 budget season is well under way. The Finance department has been working closely with all
other Township departments to assure all of their needs are met and are financially feasible. Ultimately, the Board
of Supervisors will have the ability to review and approve the 2009 budget document. The Township's budget will be on
display for public review in the Township building, the Fallsington Library, and on the Township's website in
November 2008.
The Township's Host Community Fund has provided the Township with the funding required to pay for its annual
Road Programs. The 2008 Road Program is underway and fully funded by Host Community fees. This fund's revenues are generated
by the Landfill located in the Township and operated by Waste Management.
The Township has over $34 million in its long-term restricted savings account. This account was established
in the year 2000 and since then has grown substantially. The accumulated savings were only possible through the
efforts of the Board of Supervisors and their ability to maintain reasonable spending limits while continuing to
offer all of the services provided to Township residents.
The Finance department was recgonized by the Government Finance Officer's Association of the United States and
Canada (GFOA) with a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for their
Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the year ending December 31, 2006. This was the ninth year in
a row the Township received this prestigious award. The 2007 CAFR has been submitted to the GFOA as well to
determine its eligibility for another certificate.
Please note the Township does accept Visa and MasterCard for payment of many Township transactions. Hours
of operation are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm If you have any comments or concerns please call 215-949-9000 extension 230
